Inspiration: Chanel Ad Campaigns

I'm now inspired to get in shape and look amazingly tall, elegant and flexible while balancing above the open waters (hey, we can all dream) from these images from Chanel's Spring/Summer 2012 Ad Campaign (just in time for the Olympics)

Model Moment: Arlenis Sosa

Arlenis Sosa...many may not have heard about Arelnis Sosa before Kanye's big hit "Hell of a Life" but for everyone that knows her now there is no denying her beauty and talent. Since her Banana Republic runway debut in 2008, Sosa has been featured in Vogue, ELLE, Teen Vogue, i-D and countless other magazines. She's snagged campaigns with the likes of Jones New York, Gap, Topshop and Lancรดme. Not to mention the fact that she was featured in a song of one of the biggest rap stars out today!

Best of all, Arlenis Sosa is a model of coloand despite the lack of representation in the industry, she is one of the major trailblazers for us all!

Graduation Inspiration

With the myriad of dresses available for us females it is hard to funnel through all of the choices and pick just ONE for a special day like graduation. I am falling hard for the bright colors of this season, like magenta, olive green and aqua blue, but I still love my delicate, elegant pastel colored classics. If I can marry the two styles together to find the perfect dress then I will be one happy (and fashionable) graduate.

Since it will likely be warm on May 12 when I walk across the stage, covered in a graduation gown and cap, I want to pick a dress that is an airy, comfortable length for the weather and occasion. Yet, I also need a picture-perfect piece for the many snapshots (some that may be the last =( ) with fellow classmates and professors.

Hence, the graduation inspiration I put together as I prepare to find the greatest grad dress! Can't wait to see what I discover on my search ;-)

Matthew 6:25-34

Tonight at Bible Study, OP and I read Matthew 5-6 and discussed. As I read chapter 6 I saw many highlighted parts from a time that had previously read this chapter and felt compelled to share one of the biggest highlighted parts on my blog. Hope it inspires any readers that see it.

Matthew 6:25-34

Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Gisele Bundchen x British Vogue

I passed a newsstand on my break at work the other day and popped in to check out the new magazine covers. For some reason, they had the British Vogue available and I was so in love with the cover! Gisele Bundchen is the cover model and those amazing pants she are wearing had me in awe for quite some time. I wanted to buy the magazine but I decided at $12, I can wait two days until I get to the UK.

Inspiration from Julia

Julia Sarr-Jamois, the editor of Wonderland Magazine, has really been inspiring me lately. I first of all, LOVE, her hair and hope that when I grow my natural hair out it can look even half as awesome as hers. Second, her style is so eclectic, glam which is why she is the new muse for my fashion illustration project (sorry, Kelis!).

Here are some of her looks:

The Art Professor

So, I went to turn in an assignment to my art professor today since I won't be in class tomorrow due to a Cali trip (yay!). I wound up in a sculpture studio that I never even knew existed on campus! There's something about sculpted heads, splattered paint, and hand-made art that truly inspires me and the studio seems so fitting for a photo shoot..hmmm.

But what inspired me the most about this trip was unexpectedly getting the chance to view my professor's huge, three panel painting that he created in 1972. As I was walking out I commented, "wow that is SO nice!," and he said "Thank you, I did it back in 1972." At first, I laughed and didn't believe him but as he unfolded the masterpiece I knew he meant business...or art, I should say (ha, I'm so funny =/ )

Behold, Professor Phillips' incredible, colorful, abstract painting, "Mystic Intelligent" that took 6 months to complete (which was fast because it was his "younger days"). Such a talent...

Um, so can I have a copy for my wall and have this in a dress?
